Evidence-Based Manual Therapy Techniques

Hands-on treatments grounded in clinical research, mobilizations, soft tissue work, joint manipulation to improve movement and reduce pain fast.

How It Works

Manual therapy is a hands-on approach where skilled practitioners apply specific techniques to joints and soft tissues to alleviate pain and improve mobility. These techniques include joint mobilizations, manipulations, and soft tissue therapies. The application of mechanical forces to the musculoskeletal structures can alter the physical and neurological state of the tissues, leading to pain relief and improved function.

The effectiveness of manual therapy is attributed to a combination of mechanical and neurophysiological mechanisms. The mechanical aspect involves the physical movement of joints and tissues, which can improve mobility and reduce stiffness. Simultaneously, these manual interventions can initiate a cascade of neurophysiological responses from the peripheral and central nervous systems, contributing to pain modulation and functional improvements.

Techniques such as joint mobilization involve skilled passive movements applied at varying speeds and amplitudes to the joint complex, aiming to restore optimal motion and function. Soft tissue therapies, including myofascial release and muscle energy techniques, target the muscles and fascia to alleviate tension and improve circulation.

Concept

The concept of evidence-based manual therapy revolves around integrating clinical expertise with the best available research evidence and patient values. This approach ensures that manual therapy techniques are not only grounded in scientific research but also tailored to individual patient needs.
